To the youth I have chosen to paint in the Waiting Project,

I once heard a powerful message about a person in the Bible who you don't normally hear about  -  His name is Shammah.  In 2 Samuel 23, King David talks about his mighty men.  He lists 3 men - Adino, Eleazar, and Shammah.  Names were very important in Bible times - people named their children for what they were to become.  Names forecasted their future- calling it into being every time their name was spoken.

Adino means ‘adorned one.’  This was a kid who had it all.  He had all the privileges necessary to become a success.  He had everything he ever wanted, parents who loved him and were able to provide him with opportunities and privileges.  Everyone knew he would become a success.

Eleazar  means ‘the Lord has helped.’  This kid came from a godly home.  He went to church on a regular basis with his family.  His name was always a reminder that God would help him to become a success.  Eleazar was taught to depend on God and he knew God would come through for him and help him.

But Shammah - means ‘a waste.’  We don’t know much about his parents, but we do know that they looked at him and called him a waste.  He was unwanted, unloved, uncared for.  Maybe he was a product of a rape.  Maybe his parents were so consumed with their own lives- using substances and living for themselves that they did not value his life.   Maybe his parents were abusive and hurtful.  Regardless, Shammah's name was a constant reminder of how they perceived his worth, value and destiny- a waste.

There are a lot of Shammah’s – unwanted.  They believe that they have no hope, no future.

BUT  GOD….

God takes the Shammahs and turns what someone  calls ‘a waste’ into a champion.  There are no mistakes, no failures.  God has an incredible destiny for those who others have  called or treated like a 'waste'.  He sees your pain.  No pain is ever wasted.

Shammah became one of the TOP three mighty men of Israel- famous for GREAT exploits.  God did not change his name- and it serves as a reminder of the power of the Gospel.   I love the story of Shammah and felt it was one worthy of sharing - carrying power to call forth destiny.

YOU have a future.

He knows the plans He has for you- not for harm, but to give you a hope and a future.

Your purpose is significant
.

God needs YOU.

Whether or not your mother or father wanted you or were able to care for you,

God needed you.

You are not an accident.

Your mother and your father are the ONLY two people who COULD have created you.

God knew you before you were born - He formed you in the womb and called you by your name.

He called YOU from the womb.

Though your mother or father may forget you, He will not forget you.

You are not forsaken.

YOU have a destiny.

And it's big.

Not only do you have a incredible destiny, God has a 'family' - however it may look - for you.

He sets the lonely in families.

It's His promise.

As you wait, He is preparing one for you.

The definition of wait includes the words - patient, hope, pain, stay, trust, and expect .

Although it can be painful, don't lose your expectation, for it will carry the reward.

Hope deferred makes the heart sick,

But a hope fulfilled is the wellspring of life.

I speak life to you - abundant and full of joy.

I decree healing for your heart

I break the power of destruction and decree a release of all the garbage you have experienced in Jesus name.

I decree a twofold recompense - for everything stolen from you, that you receive double for your trouble.

And your restoration is ordered of the Lord.

Everything God starts, He finishes it first and then He starts it.  He knows the end from the beginning.

So when He begins something in and for you, it will be finished.

I decree a release.

You are valuable

And God loves YOU.

- Becky
